Fractional L&D Strategic Support

Senior L&D strategy, built for the floor.

Director-level learning strategy for manufacturing, food and logistics operations. We build the system, train your people to run it, then step back.

No full-time hire. No open-ended contract. Results agreed with your Finance Lead.

Why fractional

Training fixes fade. Full-time hires cost.

Most operations are stuck between two poor options. Meanwhile, growth and operational pressure push frontline learning into reactive mode. Newly promoted team leaders learn by shadowing whoever is free. Each site does its own thing. Training happens when there's time, which is rarely.

Fractional support gives you senior L&D thinking without the permanent overhead, for as long as it takes to build something that runs without us.

The one-off fix

A workshop lands well, then the shift pattern takes over. Within weeks, team leaders are back to firefighting and the content is forgotten.

The full-time hire

A permanent L&D Director typically costs upwards of £100k a year once on-costs are included, and most sites don't need that capacity every week.

What it delivers

A learning system that keeps running after we leave.

Over a few months, we set up learning that fits how your operation already works, then hand it over.

Inside the huddle, not the training room

Learning is built into shift huddles, handovers and the huddle board, so it happens in routines your teams already run.

Put into practice on the floor

Team leaders practise on live work, with line managers coaching against clear standards.

Measured like any other investment

Targets are agreed with your Finance Lead before work starts, and progress is reported against downtime, error rates and retention.

The end result is internal capability. Your people own the framework, run the sessions and track the numbers.

The pathway

From audit to handover.

  1. Strategic audit

We review the floor, your data and current learning, and agree targets with Finance.

  2. Design

The roadmap, frameworks and huddle-based content are built around your shifts.

  3. Embed

We work alongside your team leaders and managers until the habits stick.

  4. Hand over

Internal owners take the lead. We step back to an optional retainer, or step away.

Board-ready ROI

Numbers your board will recognise.

Every engagement starts with the numbers. Before any work begins, we sit down with your Finance Lead to agree the baseline, the target measures and how they will be calculated.

If the numbers aren't moving, you'll know early, and so will we.

See how we measure
  • Measured in downtime, error rates and team leader retention
  • Baselined from your own data
  • Reported in operational terms
  • On a schedule that fits your board cycle
  • Honest read-outs, including what hasn't moved
FAQ

Questions leaders ask.

How is this different from hiring a consultant?

Consultants usually recommend. We build, run and hand over. The work is designed to leave your team in control, not to create a long-term dependency.

What happens when the engagement ends?

Your internal owners run the system, and the frameworks, content and reporting stay with you. An optional retainer gives light-touch oversight if you want it.

How much of our team's time does it need?

Very little time off the floor, because most of the learning happens inside existing huddles. We need a named sponsor, access to your operational data and short, regular check-ins with key managers.

Do you replace our HR or L&D team?

No. We work alongside them and build their capability, so they lead the work once we step back.

How are fees set?

Fees depend on scope and are agreed after the initial call, once we understand your operation.
